Trump - real talk on real issues

Trump made a strong stand in favor of border security and trade deals that benefit Americans, saying that nations like China and Mexico are eating our lunch because our leaders are poor negotiators.

He also repeatedly attacked the Mexican government, whom he said sends the worst of their citizens across the border into the United States to wreak havoc on our population.

He accused the Mexicans of having helped stoke the outrage against him after his controversial remarks on Mexican illegal immigrants, sending in protesters and influencing Univision to end their deal with Trump.

The most compelling part of his speech for many, however, was when he asked Jamiel Shaw, the black father of a high schooler murdered in cold blood by an illegal immigrant, to appear on stage with him to share his story.

Shaw’s son, Jamiel Shaw, Jr., left home for a football-related activity and was gone for hours before his father called to see where he was. As he was on the phone with his father explaining that he was just around the corner, Shaw was shot dead by Pedro Espinoza, an illegal immigrant and gang member who had just been released from prison. Shaw’s father heard the shots over the phone.
When Shaw was found, he had a shot in the gut, the hand, and the head. Authorities determined that he must’ve been lying down, covering his face with his hand when Espinoza shot the fatal bullet to the head. Shaw, Sr. remarked that this was the original “hands up, don’t shoot.”

Espinoza had been brought from Mexico illegally when he was 4 and had not been deported, even though he had been in trouble with the law three times for gun crimes. Shaw explained that the Mexican gangs order their members who have just been released from jail to immediately commit another murder, to get them back into the habit of killing and keep them from being “rehabilitated.”

Shaw praised Trump for making his bold stand against illegal immigration, saying that he and his family felt hope for the first time after the real estate mogul made the remarks that someone was finally shedding light on this critical issue. He added that he has been talking to other blacks and many of them are they are ready to vote for Trump in 2016.

Donald Trump represents what Americans are so desperate for: a straight-talker and non-politician who’s willing to talk about the issues they care about without regard to political correctness or the vanilla rhetoric typical of those trying to get elected to office.

After hearing him live for the first time, I’m not at all surprised that his political campaign is gaining traction. He excited even the libertarian-leaning audience and received a standing ovation at the end. Perhaps Trump’s candidacy will show the Washington politicians that it’s time for real talk on real issues.
