Destroyers in my life




 Learned a lot about life on my own reconsigns and morals. It allowed me the option to grow and mature on my own.  Learned technical data and many life lessons. Realy found team work to be an important part of my life.

  Went to Boot Camp in Great lakes Navel Training Center, - left on Mother's day 14 May 1961 served until March 1967.  {Was the first time flying in a  passenger plane - ** had flown with a neighbor in his Single engine Fixed wing  Beechcraft Bonanza at age 12.  leaned team work and many life necessary lessons in Boot camp!  Got government Driver License - drove in foreign countries.

 It was a great experience, served on 3 destroyers, saw much of the world have visited over 25 countries, saved {picked up} people at sea, fought a Fire on a Merchant ship, witnessed a Sub Emergency surface under a  loaded Natural Gas Barge at sea {No explosion}

Was one of the original ships dispatched to Cuba during the 1962 Missile Crisis -  operated off Cay Sal then patrolled off Havana - ran down and boarded a Soviet Merchant Attempting to avoid us - the ship has (3) three ICBMs on board, continued tracking all aircraft over Cuba.   Was part of the NASA Mercury Astronaut recovery for the first Manned Space flights.  .
Did plane guard picking up downed pilots and crew blown or fallowing of the Carriers under flight operations day and night.

Completed fleet training sessions on 2 of the destroyers at Gitmo included live fire on both shore and targets a float. Became 6th Fleet Flagship for the 3 Star Admiral going into Tunis - acted as a French Interrupter with the police - Shore Patrol. 

 There were on several "Stand by" recovery sites in riot torn countries 
{including Haiti and Zanzibar, rescued over 90 men, women and children, mainly American, British citizens from Islamic riot torn war area in Indian Ocean, Also operated with several allied navies, including Dutch, British, French Ships. Operated with the original Nuclear Flotilla in the Mediterranean sea as we were fast enough with: 1200PSI boilers at 70,000 Shaft HP.

 Mark 32 torpedo tubes 6 × 12.75 in .
