Life at sea...underway in rough weather

Having served on four Navy ships, three of which were Destroyers, I have been there and done that...

Life at sea offers some different views that are not normally seen by the land lubbers. Nothing against land lubbers, many are very nice people!

Have seen twin water spouts {sea born tornadoes}; watched the coming heavy weather front at sea... Have been through several squalls and a few Hurricanes...

Have seen the flying fish, and the Porpoise running along our bow underway... Have seen the most wonderful unobstructed sunrises and sunsets....

Have been fogged in so bad that you were not able to make out the jack staff on the bow from the Bridge...

Have seen the beautiful bright green Florence light dancing in the wake of the ship on a dark night... Have steamed at flank speed with the seventy thousand HP twin screws pushing a rooster tail ten feet tall behind the ship...

Have seen the sea as smooth as a mirror as we glided past Cape Hatteras....

These are just some of the wonderful and unusual sights seen as a sailor...

Maybe you will understand there is a great opportunity to experience the wonder of the sea...

Maybe one day if you have not done so you too can see some of these true wonders of nature...
