The Book of St John

St .John -

90% of the Book of John is not found in the Synoptic Gospels Mathew, Mark, & Luke! One of the early church leaders Clement of Alexandria noted :
" But, last of all, John, perceiving that the external facts had been made plain in the Gospel, being urged by his friends, and Inspired by the Holy Spirit, composed a Spiritual Gospel. {Eusebius, History,eccl. 6.14.7}

A "Spiritual Gospel " indeed. The vocabulary of John is not technical, but the language is plain, with the meaning profound! John is unique and a refreshing companion to the Synoptic Gospels...

John is refereed to as " the disciple whom Jesus loved " as he was an eyewitness to the life and ministry of Christ! he was the youngest of the disciples and was the one who wrote the Book of Revelation! John with Peter and James {Jesus brother} a member of the inner circle. From the cross Jesus entrust his mother Mary to John's care a noble choice.

John gives report of three happenings which the Synoptic s do not include { e.g. changing the water into wine at Cana, the raising of Lazarus, and the washing of the Disciples feet.}

The Gospel opens by identifying Jesus as the Word of God, who was with God and who was God, but who became a human to bring us life {John 1:1-18}.
The Central part of the Gospel divides into three parts:

- The Book of Signs John 1:19 to 12:50 features seven miracles or signs which Jesus performed to identify Himself which calls people to Faith in Him.

- The Book of Glory John 13:1 to 20:31 focuses on the last week of Jesus Life. The Passion Week is often described as Jesus's glorification.

- The epilogue John 21:1 - 25 describes Jesus appearance to the Disciples after the resurrection.

The outline is simple, yet profound enough for all to understand!

If you have not read St John.... Do it now...

State of Evil in the nation 2014!

 How did this evil get into our land?
** How did we get this to this point in our country? **

I've been thinking about how much the American society has changed in my 70+ years.
Most of those changes, were in the moral realm, have been destructive and not beneficial.

I was born and lived up through the fourth grade in a small town in southern Georgia - about not more than 4000 people.

Then when I moved to a larger city in Florida in the 5th grade, and knew everyone in my high school 1960 graduating class, to one degree or another! We had Prayer and Bible reading each and every morning. Our S.A.T. scores were higher than they are today even with Billions of $ having been spent on so called education!
{It is as if we entered a time warp or parallel universe!}

============================

Trying to recall how many broken families we knew of in the 50' - 60's; actually very few! That was the exception; because we all pretty much expected a mom and dad to be in the home for nearly every family.
I’m not at all sure if any of the girls in my class had to leave school due to pregnancy; I don’t remember anyone in that situation, although, there may have been some.. Once more, that was the extreme exception. Marriage was to come first.

Back in the 1950 -  60's no one talked much about homosexuality, with of course there was no such thing as same-sex marriage. Any such consideration was out of sight, out of mind - so no one worried about such...  It was not that we did have share of bully-types who generally reeked of rebellion and cigarette smoke. If anyone ever was high on drugs, it wasn't that evident.
{ There was of course -  Mary Jane which existed but most did not know anyone who actually used it!  Such drug useage was for classes which graduated from the late 1970's until  today!.

Abortion was a word with which we had little to no acquaintance at all. I never knew anyone who had an abortion. Of course, it was illegal then; because the floodgates of Roe vs Wade had not yet been opened.

Now a days I sometime feel like I’m living in an alien culture today, a sort of virtual world that is an anomaly — as this is not the way things are supposed to be.

Families are not supposed to be disintegrating at the alarming rate we now see in recent years; where traditional marriage is in the process of being destroyed completely by the radical homosexual agenda! With the number of abortions since Roe v. Wade  -  more than a staggering 56 million souls - deaths defies all rational expectations.

** Which is really counter productive because we are now told that it is necessary to bring in many Muslin and Mexican immigrants to keep the work force in the U.S up - but really why?

It’s absolutely horrifying, yet we are practically numbed by the immensity of the figure. To many people’s minds, the aborted babies are more statistics than real persons who have had their lives snuffed out. They are the most innocent victims of all; they never did anything to deserve such treatment. Such as any young children who was killed for whatever reason!
{Aren't you glad that your mother did not choose to have an abortion when you were born? You bet because otherwise we would not be having this conversation now!}

Now we've even come to the place where the Governor of New York now says pro-life people, those who believe in the self-defense of carrying arms,  those who refuse to accept the movement away from traditional marriage are to be considered extremists who have no place in his state. (really?)

** Exactly how did the Governor come to this point?

First it is against the traditional principles of this country - based upon the U.S Constitution. {Which BTW: Liberal Hate and Socialist want the US Constitution destroyed}

Question:  Who built the USA of today?
 It was basically the working, tax paying mainly Christian belief European decent peoples - with a smaller ratio of some others...

========================================================
So what went wrong?

** The main thing is that we forgot God and got to the point where most feel that we are superior to Him!
----------------------

I can’t imagine:
- back as a high school student back in the 1950's,
- then after service in the US Navy on 3 Destroyers,
- as a college student in 1960's,
- even with all the drama of Vietnam and the beginnings of cultural shifts of that time,
 that any governor would ever feel comfortable making such a statement like that.
{It did not happen}

Statue of Bigotry

It’s easy to sense a deepening spiritual darkness upon the country and in the world, yet we cannot allow that to lead us to despair.
Christians are to be the rays of His light in this dark world.  Although I am sometimes stunned when I consider the plunge our society has made into such lower levels of depravity,

Now there is hope when we view hundreds of thousands congregating on the Washington Mall to show support for the sanctity of human life.  This is people defending the right to new born life!

This tells me that there are many others out there who share my worldview.  All is not lost. If we can encourage each other enough and work toward unity of purpose,  but we have to give God something to work with.

One thing God has never required a majority on His side to move a mountain.

  " Bear One Another's Burdens "
 ** Galatians 6:6-8

6 The one who is taught the word is to share all good things with the one who teaches him.

7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap.

8 For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.     { Believe it}

God will always honor the dedicated remnant of people who follow Him.

You should be determined to be part of that remnant.
