While celebrating my next younger brother's birthday, at one of his son's restaurant here in Georgia, we reminisced on life as it was in Dixie a few decades ago... Some may just call it looking back at times gone by; while true it is also a true standard to which one can gauge our life!

It was a time which we did not realize then how much less burdened or not as hurried life was... Not so caught up as much of the present generation! HUH!

It was a time when as youngn's (children) we would go out and just run over to a neighbor kids yard and play til either Mom rang the supper bell or Dad called us home! We played games like " Red Rover", " Simon Says" , "Mother May I " or maybe the now dreaded "Dodge Ball"...

We drank out of a garden hose, shared sodas and Popsicles, and ever so often walked or biked to the neighborhood store to get a dimes worth of candy... We would put some old playing cards on our bikes so they hit the spokes and made sounds like a motorcycle, then cruise the neighborhood together...

On Saturday sometimes we would get 25 cents to go to a down town movie and see a (Black & White) Western or Tarzan show... People like Roy Rogers, or Lash Lague, or The Lone Ranger, maybe even the Singing Cowboy - Gene Autuary! War movies were not so popular; but the came color!

** Oh Ya, then one day everything just went from B&W to color! We all woke up one morning and Puff there was color everywhere... Having been used to everything being B&W it took some getting used to a world of color, ya see... Funny thing about that!

Yes we did not worry about robbery, and drive by shooting, or being sold some Dope by a local dealer... Though these things did happen, it was not the norm and was not found in most Dixie neighbors.... We had Prayer in Public Schools, a Bible reading each morning, ( for some that was the only exposure to the Good Book they had), We learned that "work was necessary to survive and have any thing in life... We learned such things as " Honor, Trust, and to always Tell the Truth!"

In my High School Auditorium these words are found over the stage , " God, Country and Home" Life was simple, we had guide lines by which to live! Guard rails help keep you out of the ditch!

I believe the younger generations in the USA have been cheated by a so called "Liberal" thought that you should be able to do what ever you feel is right! First feelings will lead you astray if they are not directed by truthful thinking, intelligent reasoning and guidelines based upon the word of God!

Oh, I am sure that the "G" word is considered passe by many of these modern thinkers, and if you look at what their liberal ideas and philosophy has lead this country and many parts of the world into the past fifty years, you may just want to reconsider the "good old days"....

Back when right is right and wrong is learned to be avoided at all costs... Then if you help your neighbor, life can be good for every body!

It was not such a bad time to live...
